Maj Gen(Dr) Jagtar Singh,VSM is the ex-Additional Director General Armed Forces Medical Services ( Equipment & Stores) at Office of the DGAFMS, Ministry of Defence and Commandant of Officer’s Training College, AMC Centre and College, Lucknow. He is an alumnus of Armed Forces Medical College Pune He later attained his post graduation degree of MD in Hospital Administration from the same institution He is also an alumnus of prestigious Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) Wellington and qualified in Masters in Defence and Strategic studies He is a WHO Fellow in Health Economics having done studies at Chulalongkorn University Bangkok Thailand and is trained in medico-legal systems. He has attended the healthcare management course at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He is also a post-graduate examiner for Hospital Administration and an assessor for NABH.

Maj Gen Jagtar Singh has successfully commanded a 600 bedded busy multispecialty military hospital and been the medical superintendent/chief operating officer as Senior Registrar of a large hospital at Srinagar in the valley

In addition, he has rich experience of staff, instructional and command appointments in the Armed Forces Medical Services. He has successfully executed the project to establish the India Tajikistan Friendship Hospital (ITFH) abroad in the year 2013-14  

  • A trained paratrooper since 1982 he was initially posted with the elite special forces and later served with distinction on deputation to Sultanate of Oman Land Forces (SOLF) in Oman for nearly 4 years.
  •  For his dedication and exemplary services, Maj Gen Jagtar Singh has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal, Chief of Army Staff Commendation twice and GOC-in-C Commendation over the period of his service in the Army
  • After his stint in the Army he has been Director Medical Services Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals New Delhi and a Member delegate of the International Healthcare Study Mission to USA under the aegis of Confederation of Indian Industry-Institute of Quality (CII-IQ) on ‘Best Practices in Global Healthcare Organisation : An Impetus to Improving Benchmarks “ during June 2019
  • He is an active Assessor for the recently introduced CII Malcolm Baldridge Healthcare Excellence and Star Icon HE Awards in the country
  • He is presently member of the Board of Executives, Academy of Hospital Administration and Associate Editor of the Journal of Hospital Administration
  • His particular areas of interest and study are healthcare leadership, strategy, healthcare excellence, quality management and hospital planning and designing.
