Review Article- Adoption Of Value Assessment Frameworks For Healthcare Decision Making: Insights For Indian Healthcare Systems

Abstract:

Background: Value assessment frameworks are decision support tools for patients, physicians and policy makers. The tools enhance value based decision making in healthcare through assessment of costs and benefits of services. Value assessment frameworks, a domain recently emerged, is known to add immeasurable value to healthcare systems when developed and implemented in a robust manner.

Purpose: To conduct a review of published literature on value assessment frameworks and provide insights for adoption of value assessment frameworks in the Indian healthcare systems.

Methods: The researchers extensively searched popular online databases to obtain relevant literature.

Findings: A major bulk of literature on value assessment frameworks emerge from well-developed healthcare systems of developed countries.

Implications: This study emphasizes on the need to develop value based frameworks for effective and efficient decision making in healthcare and suggests its adoption into a population intensive country like India.
