Article-2: Dimensions of a successful medical crowd funding in India: An Exploratory Study.

Medical Crowdfunding is a strategythat bridges the beneficiaries to the crowd in an online platform and raises charity funds to financially support the fundraiser’s medical needs. The study was aimed to explore the dimensions and contributing factors for successful medical crowdfunding. A total of 100 campaigns was considered from the three crowdfunding platforms namely ImpactGuru, Milaap, and Ketto. 10 campaigns had successfully raised the target amount. Covid19 was the disease largely registered for the medical crowdfunding followed by Cancer. 63% of the campaign belonged to children and 31%of the campaign for adults followed the same proportion ofaccumulation of funds.50% of the campaign performed for cancer patient beneficiaries raised more than 75% to the goal amount and 40% of the campaigns for liver disease patients crowdfunded more than 75% of the goal amount. 63% of the beneficiaries had their hospitalized photo to support their motive for crowdfunding. The analysis of medical crowdfunding also opens a window on the status of affordability of healthcare and its services.
